My Lady's Price

Martin, a self-confessed drunkard and gambler is on the run, accused of murder. To escape, he joins a party hastily gathered to escort Princess Constanzia to the far north for her marriage to a king who, it is hoped, will then send his armies south to save the Empire of Ardonia from being over-run by barbarian tribes. On their journey, strange events keep occurring and, to try to solve the mysteries, two of the group invite Martin to join them. One is the Lady Rosamunda, to whom Martin finds himself strongly attracted, although he knows he is outshone by the handsome Squire Peter - but events are further complicated by the lady's engagement to the Master of the Guild of Usurers whose son Martin is accused of killing.
